Development Squad
This squad comprises those who are new to athletics and who are looking for a broad based introduction to all of the disciplines of our sport. It is particularly targeted at the young but all ages are welcome. It is expected that people in this group will graduate in time to specialist coaches in their chosen field
Coaches: Bob Purcell, Paula Whitcher
Entry requirements: Minimum age 10 years although exceptions may be made in certain
circumstances. Parents of the very young are encouraged to stay and help
with supervision

FUNdamentals (Fun in Athletics)

Entry requirements: Minimum age 6 years (School years 2 - 4)

Senior 5k Performance
(Distance races of 10k or less on road, track or country)
Coach: Arthur Daley
Entry requirements: Those who can run 5k in between 19 and 26 mins. Runners may also be aiming at 10k in around 40 minutes or more. Some sessions will be suitable for runners of both slower and faster paces. The training programme emphasises consistency and progression and there is an expectation that members will compete frequently
Training times and venues: Thursday evenings 6.45 - 8.00 at Blackbridge Clubhouse focusing on
speed. Additionally members are expected to train in groups as much
as possible and so are encouraged to form informal groups for training
on at least 4 other days of the week
Saturdays (when not competing) Pilot Inn 9.00 - long slow run.
Sundays at Pilot Inn 15:00 or 17:00 speed; if racing on Saturday, the long
slow run is on Sunday
