Coaches, Officials & Volunteers

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the club. Without our fantastic volunteers there would be no club.

Volunteers perform a range of roles within the club - volunteering may include, (but is not limited to!)

• Coaching 
• Officiating at events
• Organising fundraising and social-events
• Organising and marshalling races
• Helping to maintain the clubhouse
• Making the tea on training evenings. 
• Taking the minutes at meetings
• Training to become a qualified first aider
• Volunteering to become a committee member

There is a role for everyone, whatever their interests, skill-set or availability.

Any coaching and officiating course fees will be paid by the club. Further details on coaching and officiating can be found via the links on the left.

Potential volunteers can download a form from the link below, please complete this and return it to our Volunteer Coordinator, Helen Hoy, or to another Committee member or Coach. We'll be extremely grateful!

Gloucester AC policy on reimbursement of Officials’ travelling expenses

Members who officiate for the club at targeted club fixtures where the club is required by the rules of the league to provide officials, are entitled to reimbursement of travelling costs if they have to use their own transport.

Targeted club fixtures are:

• Birmingham & District Cross Country League
• Midland Track & Field League
• UK Youth Development League
• Avon Track & Field League

A member who attends a relevant AGM or EGM on behalf of the club is also entitled to reimbursement of travelling costs.

Relevant AGMs or EGMs are:

• England Athletics
• Midland Counties Athletic Association
• Birmingham & District Cross Country League
• Midland Track & Field League
• UK Youth Development League
• Avon Track & Field League

Other events may be permitted at the discretion of, and with the prior approval of, the committee.

The rate paid is 45p per mile.

To minimise the effect on the club’s finances, members are urged to car-share.
